ANNAPOLIS — Each year, the Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR) honors all 24 local Departments of Social Services for their achievements in caring for the vulnerable children they serve. This year’s awards were presented as part of the agency’s Learning Collaborative Award Luncheon held at the Miller Senate Office Building in Annapolis on Nov. 15. Queen Anne's County Department of Social Services (QACDSS) Agency Director, Susan Coppage; Child Protective Services and In Home Services Supervisor, Susie Spiering; and Foster Care Worker, Jennifer Evans represented Queen Anne's County.

DHR’s Child Welfare Outcomes Awards initiative strives to ensure that Maryland’s vulnerable children are well cared for in safe and stable homes. Child Welfare Outcomes Awards are presented to jurisdictions based on their performance in areas where DHR established goals aimed at ensuring permanency for as many children as possible and indicators of the overall quality of care children receive. At the annual luncheon, DHR presents each local department with an award listing their accomplishments.
