Prince George’s County to Host Veterans Stand Down and Homeless Resources Day

One Day, One Stop, One Goal:  Resources and Services for Veterans and Homeless Families

 

LANDOVER, MD – On November 3, 2012, Prince George’s County Departments of Social Services, Family Services, and Health are partnering with the Maryland Department of Veteran Affairs, John 14:2 Inc. — a non-profit dedicated to assisting homeless veterans — and Community Outreach and Development Inc. — a non-profit that provides resources to homeless families— to host Prince George’s County’s Annual Veterans Stand Down and Homeless Resource Day.  The event will occur from 10:0 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Wayne K. Curry Sports and Learning Complex, 8001 Sheriff Road, Landover, MD  20785 and is free and open to all County residents who homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.

Prince George’s County’s Annual Veteran Stand Down & Homeless Resource Day will provide veterans, homeless individuals, and families with ONE DAY – ONE STOP – ONE GOAL easy access to critical support services that include food, shower and laundry facilities, medical and dental services, onsite application for Veteran’s Administration and Department of Social Services benefits, mental health assessments and counseling, and FREE photo ID cards from the Motor Vehicle Administration. In addition, there will be several services for homeless and unstably housed youth.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with various county, state and local service providers to receive information and referral services.

WHO:              All Prince George’s County residents who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness

WHEN:            Saturday, November 3, 2012, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
