Secretary’s remarks:Sandtown Habitat for Humanity event

Background:  The Sandtown Habitat for Humanity Annual Build week is in its 20th year.  Staffs from DHR Central and its local departments of social services have faithfully participated in this event for the last 13 year.  This year, 80 of our staff from across the state have volunteered to support this effort.  Secretary Dallas presented the staff with a certificate of appreciation for their continued support of this worthwhile endeavor.

 Good morning –

I just want to say what an honor it is to be here with you this morning.

The work that is done nationally through habitat for humanity is wonderful!  It is a pleasure to be a part of this local effort here in Sandtown and I want to thank each of our DHR employees for their continuing efforts for 13 years.

I understand that over 80 DHR staff will be here during the week in an effort to help families to realize the American dream of home ownership!

I also understand that this is a milestone for Sandtown, as you celebrate 20 years of coming together.  In those 20 years, you have completed close to 300 homes!  You should be applauded.

Again, thank you for all you do for families!
