Public Comment Sought on Social Services Block Grant Proposal

The Department of Human Resources Draft Social Services Block Grant Report for  the period October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013) is now available for review and comments at the DHR website located at http://dhr.state.md.us.

Beginning in October 2012, Maryland anticipates receiving from the federal government approximately $31.6 million in Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funds.  These funds, combined with other federal, state, and local funding, will provide a wide range of social services for Maryland residents.  Some of the services provided by this funding include Adoption, Adult Protective Services, Foster Care, In-Home Aide Services, Intensive Family Services, and Services to Families with Children.

Federal law requires the department to produce the SSBG report to explain program eligibility, the number of people served, the amount of funds spent and the way service is provided.  Comments and questions regarding the plan or its availability are due by August 17, 2012 and should be addressed to:
