Allegany County DSS staff “team up” to Assist Community Partner

The Employees of Allegany County Department of Social Services “team up” to raise funds for  a community partner. Reverend Dan Taylor pastor of the Union Rescue Mission, a community partner,   initiated a roof repair fund to address the structural needs of the building.  The employees of the Social Service office appreciate more than most the wonderful work that Reverend Taylor provides for those vulnerable families and individuals in the  community.

This October, three staff members, Heidi Buser, Bryan Leatherman and Courtney Tipton created two fund raising initiatives for the staff at the social services office.  Heidi organized a used book sale for employees and Bryan came up with the idea for “Football Fridays” where staff could donate $10 for privilege of wearing their favorite football jersey thru the end of football season.  Employees are showing support for their favorite high school, college or NFL team in support of the Mission’s efforts to repair their roof.

Staff challenge any other agency or business in our area to “Team Up” in support of the Union Rescue Mission.

Presenting a check for $602 to Reverend Taylor are Heidi Buser, Bryan Leatherman and Courtney Tipton.
